This uniquely modern take on a classic Texas roadside motor lodge is truly a one-of-a-kind property. The partnership with the client includes full-service landscape maintenance for the boutique hotel, situated in an emerging high-tech and luxury shopping, dining, and business district on the outskirts of Austin, TX. A truly retro-styled retreat, the property’s unique design allows guests to travel back in time to the heyday of road-tripping along Route 66.
Challenges
Over the past several years of this client partnership, there have been several ups and downs that we’ve had to navigate together. The success of the ongoing relationship is rooted in being upfront about concerns and challenges as they arise.
Guest experience is always the top priority. The hotel goes to great lengths to make the guest’s time at the property unique, throwing cocktail parties and marshmallow roasts to ensure guests feel welcome and have some unexpected fun. Navigating these types of pop up events and scheduling service around them isn’t always easy, but careful planning and open communication makes them a huge draw for the client.
Next, avoiding guest disturbances is always important. With both business travelers and vacationers frequenting the property, providing a peaceful, relaxing environment is paramount here. Guests are seeking a quiet getaway, not a wake-up call from landscaping equipment at sunrise. A related challenge is minimizing maintenance to reduce landscaping crews’ time on the property - to be as invisible as possible. Not an easy task, as all rooms face inward to the large central courtyard.
The final hurdle of note is getting efficient access, as this is a gated property within a much larger mixed-use development that includes multifamily housing, senior living, commercial office, and retail sections. With such a diverse mix of properties in the area, there are a multitude of people and vehicles constantly coming and going (vendors, delivery services, and guests).
