Trying to find a substitute for a deteriorating sago palm? How about considering a European fan palm as an alternative? This petite palm grows 3 to 8 feet tall with a 6 to 8 foot mature spread making it perfect for small spaces where sago palms once lived. European fan palms are not affected by the aulacaspis scale as sago palms are.

European Fan Palms are striking specimens where tropical flare is desired. Plant them in full sun to part shade with a well-drained soil. This specimen is slow-growing so choose the current size container you want accordingly. Both single and multiple trunk specimens are readily available. Common uses for European fan palms include framing entryways, filling large pots, enhancing small poolside planters, and offering focal points to a landscape.
