Property managers and landscape companies have a lot in common. Most notably, they survive to serve the community and protect (and improve) its assets.
But a lot of the time, the urgencies of each busy day force the property manager to work on the short term - to focus on daily problems and issues. For a property manager, it seems like problem solving and fixing things is a full time job!
In landscaping, it's no different. A good landscaper desires what's best for the community. Quality landscaping companies want to protect a community's living assets and help the community mature in a sustainable and aesthetically sound way.
Working together, property managers and landscaping companies would benefit from thinking outside the box. Although difficult amidst the day's demands, property managers and landscape companies should set a short time aside monthly to meet on ways to improve the community as a whole. Here's a great list of questions to ignite discussion:
- How can we be more pro-active in our services?
- What are little things we can collectively do that can make a big difference for the community?
- Where are the loudest concerns coming in from the community? Can we focus efforts on mitigating concerns through a high level of communication and being flexible in our schedules?
- What are ways we're investing into the community, not just taking care of daily maintenance activities?
If you're a community or commercial property manager, don't hesitate to initiate this special time to really understand how to serve the community. If you're a landscape company, communicate to your property manager your vested interest in making the community sustainable and beautiful (if of course, that's your intent). By working together, these two teams will improve the quality of life for community's everywhere.
